Richard Kirk, CEO
Hallmark Communities & HCC Construction

Richard is the CEO & Founder of Hallmark Communities. Rick has been involved in real estate development and construction for over 35 years. In 1987, he founded Hallmark Communities, which originally focused exclusively on mid-rise multi-family residential construction. These developments set the benchmark in Columbus for unrivaled quality, dedication to deadlines, and commitment to budgets and excellence. In the late 90’s, Rick expanded into the student housing sector, where he began to introduce upscale resort-style communities to universities around the nation. Rick’s experience ranges from site evaluations, zoning, development and construction budgets, architectural and engineering service management, contracts, bank draws, and many miscellaneous development activities.

William Kirk, President

William Kirk has been active in the Real Estate and Construction industry for over a decade. His primary professional focus revolves around the development of multi-family, student housing, and mixed-use developments. Prior to joining the Hallmark team, William worked extensively with Continental Building Company on various student housing projects overseeing construction and project management. William’s experience included implementing and overseeing all facets of project management responsibilities regarding budget planning, schedules, procurement, quality and risk, design, construction, and occupancy. William brings an array of experience to the Hallmark team, overseeing every project transaction from early planning stages to project completion.

Michael Kennedy, Senior Vice President Construction

Michael Kennedy has been active in real estate development and construction for over 30 years. His professional expertise is inclusive of a broad range of involvement in multi-family, affordable housing and real estate projects. Prior to joining Hallmark Communities, Michael worked on behalf of Keith B. Key Incorporated, which focused efforts in New Orleans on Hurricane Katrina affordable housing. Michael has vast experience with coordination of outside design consultants, government agencies and general contractor’s. A culmination of Michael’s previous professional experiences has enabled him to successfully deliver many projects through the complex development process on time and within budget.

PAT MCGUIRE, DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Pat McGuire has been active in the real estate development industry for over 17 years. Prior to joining Hallmark Communities, Pat was responsible for land acquisitions, negotiating and closing numerous multi-family, mixed-use, commercial, and planned community developments.

MARC DOUKAKIS, PROJECT MANAGER

Marc Doukakis brings over 30 years of broad experience constructing multi-family communities, student housing, senior living communities, healthcare facilities, and industrial buildings across several states. Over the years, several of his projects have qualified for sustainable programs such as Energy Star, Green Communities, and LEED. At Hallmark Campus Communities, Marc is a Project Manager and is responsible for the management of building projects, including negotiating subcontracts, providing day-to-day communication with the construction team, and ensuring jobs remain on schedule and within budget. He’s also responsible for ensuring the overall production, quality, and profitability of each project. Marc received a Bachelor of Science Degree (Industrial Design) from Kent State University. He has achieved several certifications including LEED AP Building Design & Construction and OSHA.

Michael Cannon has over 35 years of construction experience. Michael began his career as a small single family home builder. In the early ‘90s he formed a framing company which worked on commercial apartments and buildings. In 1995 he joined Village Green Companies, where he served as the Project Manager leading large multi-family developments. After several years, he joined K & E Construction where he worked his way up until becoming the President of Construction. Mike has been a part of HCC Construction for the past 6 years. He is responsible over 3,000+ multi-family rental units and 6,000+ beds throughout the country.

CAMERON KIRK, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Cameron Kirk is a Director of Operations with over 10 years of corporate experience. He began his career in marketing in New York City, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a Senior Marketing Manager, overseeing the planning and execution of large-scale campaigns for major clients. In his most recent role, Cameron transitioned to the real estate development industry, bringing his expertise in project management and his ability to drive results to a new field. Cameron is known for his ability to lead cross-functional teams, his attention to detail and his ability to navigate complex project timelines and budgets. His strong communication and leadership skills have been essential in his ability to effectively manage stakeholders, contractors, and vendors. 

JUSTIN CANNON, PROJECT MANAGER

As a second-generation construction professional, Justin Cannon has accumulated over a decade of experience in the industry, beginning in 2010. Justin's extensive knowledge and expertise regarding multi-family and student housing construction make him an invaluable addition to the HCC Construction team. He has successfully managed projects across the United States, including Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, and Alabama. Justin is responsible for overseeing the establishment of pre-construction budgets, creation of construction schedules, and project buyouts. He diligently manages projects from inception to completion, ensuring a seamless transition to management upon project turnover. With his multiple certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, heavy equipment operator licenses, first aid, Energy Star, and LEED, Justin is a true asset to our team at HCC Construction.

Ben Richards, Senior PROJECT MANAGER

Ben Richards has been active in the real estate and construction industry for over 18 years. His primary professional focus revolves around the pre-construction and construction of multi-family and mixed-use developments. Prior to joining the Hallmark team, Ben worked with multiple developers and general contractors on various multi-family, mixed-use, and retail projects including high end apartments and affordable housing. Ben’s experience includes providing leadership and delegation as required to carry various projects from the pre-construction process through completion.
